Alcove

The original tombstone of Gillie Davies, Ellen Davies Rodger’s father, sits in this alcove. A large mill stone serves as a step to the house. It was probably brought from the gristmill operated by William Early Davies in Fayette County.
The nikko blue hydrangea bushes in the alcove were moved from Ellen Davies Rodgers’ home, the Oaks. Her parents, Gillie and Ina Davies built the Oaks using a former commissary as the foundation.
